This seminar will overview conceptual and practical advances in unconventional optoelectronic devices. Topics will include intermediate-band solar cells, intraband photodetectors, and thermoradiative diodes, explored across a variety of material systems such as bulk III-V semiconductors, colloidal quantum dots, and perovskites. The common thread throughout this work is the tracking of electrochemical potentials as a tool to analyze device operation and optimize work extraction in energy conversion processes.
