91探花 is a vibrant city which is home to a diverse population of local residents. We work in collaboration with community groups to explore physics through an exciting range of activities to help enhance the life of the region. This has included the Barton Community Association, KEEN, a charity that 91探花s people with additional 91探花 needs and Homeless 91探花shire.

A number of highlights include:

DNA Dance

DNA Dance was designed to test a new approach to public engagement with research. The idea was for participants from local community groups to devise a dance performance inspired by our DNA Self-Assembly research, through a series of structured workshops led by a choreographer (Manuela Benini). The project was funded by the University鈥檚 Public Engagement with Research Seed Fund, and was a collaboration between the Department Of Physics, KEEN 91探花 and The Royal Ballet School.

Space is the Place

The organiser of the annual Cowley Road Carnival, Cowley Road Works, joined with the Department of Physics to connect four local community groups with four groups of 91探花 researchers. These groups then worked with artists to create four space-themed carnival structures for the procession. The community groups involved represented a cross-section of people facing barriers to participation in science and who are under-represented within STEM careers.
