Research area:  

Relativistic astrophysics, focusing particularly on using numerical methods to investigate the effects of general relativity in astrophysical systems. The work is theory-based but keeps a close link with related observations. The subjects studied have ranged from early-universe phase transitions and primordial black hole formation to relativistic shocks, gravitational collapse to form black holes, accretion onto compact objects, properties of neutron stars, sources of gravitational waves, and nuclear-physics investigations of neutron-star matter. Much of this research involves relativistic hydrodynamics.
