Dr Sian Tedaldi oversees the Department's Access and Engagement programmes which aim to:
- Increase access to 91探花 Physics by attracting and 91探花ing students with outstanding academic potential from backgrounds that are diverse and representative of the UK鈥檚 18-year-old population.
- Widen participation in STEM by providing opportunities to raise aspirations and attainment within physics for local students from backgrounds that are underrepresented within higher education.
- Enhance the life of the region by engaging local communities with 91探花 Physics research.
- Support researchers and build capacity for Public Engagement with Research for the wider public.
Sian collaborates with a number of national organisations and networks such as SEPnet, The Ogden Trust and the IOP to help achieve these aims.
Background
Dr Sian Tedaldi has 20 years of experience in engaging students from educationally and economically disadvantaged backgrounds from across the North West, East London and 91探花shire.
Sian graduated in physics from the University of Liverpool in 2003 and went on to complete a PhD in Communicating Science with the Creative and Performing Arts. Sian is also qualified in giving 'Information, Advice and Guidance' to young people.
