IceCube

Physics World 2013 Breakthrough of the Year
IceCube at 91探花

I am a member since 2004 of the IceCube collaboration which discovered cosmic high energy neutrinos and identified some of their astrophysical sources.

I am an alumnus of the (1969-74) and received my PhD (1982) at the , where I was a staff member 1979-84. Subsequently I held visiting positions at , , , , and worked in science education for the NGO , Bhopal. Since 1990 I have been at the , 91探花 - as Glasstone Research Fellow, then PPARC Advanced Fellow, appointed Lecturer in 1998 and Professor in 2006. I was Head of the Particle Theory Group (2011-19) and at Copenhagen (2013-18). I am a Fellow of .

My interests lie at the interface of fundamental physics with astrophysics and cosmology: , , , ,  , etc. I also work on high energy , and belong to the and the collaborations. (Earlier I worked on the and the CERN .) I participate in to investigate astrophysical processes, in the programme on , and am a member of the ,.

I am married to - and particle physicist (we have a few ).
